What I Wore

Wow! What a month it’s been! Winter break has been absolutely crazy. Between reunions with friends, busy holidays, a new internship, and illness, it has been hard to find the time to write a good post.

But things are winding down; my friends are headed back to school and I am preparing to get back into the swing of things as the spring semester quickly approaches.

Although I haven’t been posted in a while, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been dressing fashionably!

My go-to winter break outfit has been a pair of great leggings and lots of layers!

Layering is super important (and cute) during the winter months- especially in New England, where one day will be in the negatives and the next will be a sunny 50 degrees.

Tanks, tees, and button downs are some great layering pieces and basics most people will have in their wardrobe (if not, what are you waiting for?)

The great part about layering is that you are able to mix and match fabrics, patterns, and colors, and more often than not, they will mesh, creating endless easy, comfortable looks that are perfect for almost any occasion!

Although I love winter fashion- sweaters, boots, scarves, (what’s not to love?) I can’t wait for the warm weather of spring! There are lots of new trends (and old) that I am excited to try!

I am excited to see how other people embrace the spring trends this semester, and with my new internship, I will be reporting on them every week!

What I Wore

Happy December!

Winter is in full swing and the Holiday season has me anxious for cookie-decorating, gift-wrapping, and sweater-wearing!

But Winter also brings cold weather and dark skies!

I find it harder to wake up for school during the winter months. I usually sleep a little later when the weather is cold and need a look that is quick, but still fashionable when I am running late!

To brighten up my morning, I opted for a cute, comfortable look with fun accessories!

Head Wrap: The Paper Store Scarf: Express Shirt: Tj Maxx Leggings: Forever 21 Boots: Aldo

I paired a simple, black pair of leggings with a white, flowy blouse for a casual look, then punched up my look by adding knee-high black boots, a grey, sparkly knit scarf, and a pop of color with the purple, knit head wrap.

The head wrap can be worn with your hair down or in a ponytail or bun, whichever you prefer! When I am running late, a ponytail is my go to look! Dress up your simple up-do with a head scarf, wrap, or headband!

With a look as effortless as this feel free to hit snooze!

What I Wore

With the upcoming winter months comes dark hues- deep wine-colored reds, grey, navy, and black.

Although I am a fan of all of these colors, I do not believe you should limit yourself with “seasonal hues.”

Add a statement piece in a bold color to brighten up what may otherwise be a monotone look! I chose an electric blue tone to accentuate my outfit and pull everything together in a fun, colorful way.

Don’t be afraid to go for a jewel-toned accent- purples, blues, and greens look great with any skin tone!

Start with basic layers, then add that wow factor with a bold cardigan, belt, scarf, bag, or shoe!

Next time you think of winter hues, make sure to include bright, eye-catching colors!

What I Wore

This week has been hectic to say the least.

With tests, papers, presentations, and lots of social engagements, I have stressed out and busy for the past couple of days, but I didn’t let that stop me from taking the time to pick out an outfit that said cool, calm, and collected.

I love to have fun with fashion, something I believe everyone should make do when getting dressed in the morning!

I have noticed the different kinds of people in my classes: the people that experiment with fashion and creating the perfect look and the people who roll out of bed in the morning, dawning sweatpants and t-shirts that they clearly slept in!

What kind of person do you want to be? Your outfit says it all!

I want to be the one who plays with fashion! To showcase that, I paired a fun, Gatsby-inspired sweatshirt (that also happens to be the softest and coziest) with a pair of zip-ankle, leather leggings, and spiked, wedged sneakers! I completed this black on black look with a pop of bright red lipstick.

Remember, a little party never killed nobody- and neither did taking fashion risks!

What I Wore

The most important thing to remember about fashion is that it is personal. Style is unique to everyone and sometimes those styles clash or don’t mesh well with others.

Dress for yourself! Of course you should be mindful of dressing appropriately for different occasions (i.e. don’t wear flip flops to a job interview or a tube top to church,) but don’t let people dictate your personal style!

This week, I opted out of the 20 minutes it takes me to do my hair in the morning for 20 extra minutes of sleep! To compensate for the “bedhead” I threw on a navy Turban, which I absolutely love!

I paired the navy with a flowy, white top and a cozy pair of jeans. I kept my jewelry simple, throwing on a stack of silver bangles, and completed the look with knee-high, black boots.

With the recent cold weather, a heavy, winter jacket was necessary!

This Michael Kors down puffer coat is perfect for late fall and winter! It kept me warm while creating a fashion statement on its own. The length is flattering on nearly all body-types and it comes in a variety of colors! With a detachable fur hood, it is a must have for winter in New England!

Remember to dress to impress (yourself.)

What I Wore

It’s safe to say I am obsessed with the up and coming clothing brand Divine Minds.

I received my custom, silk-screened hoodie last week and it has become my go to sweatshirt.

Not only is it one of the most comfortable hoodies I have ever owned, but it is also one of the most unique.

The design is eye-catching and original and when I wore it to school yesterday, I got at least a dozen compliments and questions about it!

Keeping it simple and cozy, I opted to pair it with black leggings and warm, black Ugg boots.

I am 100% happy with this purchase and can’t wait for their next item release!

What I Wore

The cool weather is in full swing and yesterday was no exception!

A chilly afternoon called for fall festivities- pumpkin picking at the farm stand!

To combat the cold breeze, combat boots completed my outfit. I paired them with some warm, wooly socks and black leggings.

Layers are also a great way to create a cute and fashionable look, while still staying cozy and warm!

This olive, cardigan-style, sweater over a loose white tank did the trick! Available at Forever 21 in a variety of colors, it is the perfect fall staple. I topped it off with an oversize knit scarf, which kept me warm while adding texture to my look.

Bundled up, I picked out the perfect pumpkin!

What I Wore

After a relaxing weekend, Monday was not welcomed warmly and I struggled to get out of bed for class.

To get my morning started off right, I amped up my style for the day. I added thick cat-eye liner and punched it up with bright red lipstick.

Bringing some funky elements to my look really woke me up and made me excited for the day ahead.

To go with my bold eye and lip, I opted for an understated, monotone outfit, that still stood out. When going with an all black outfit, be sure to contrast the darkness with a pop of color, either with shoes, accessories, or lipstick, as I did with this look.

I had so much fun with this style because it isn’t really my typical style. I like to mix things up and keep people guessing.

When you wear a certain outfit, a certain attitude or aura should accompany it. It should make you feel something- passionate, creative, different.

2013-10-21 18.16.33

Clothing doesn’t define who you are, nor do you have to choose one style. Instead, play around with styles and experiment with colors, fabrics, patterns, or whatever else suits you to make fashion something that is fun and personal.

Remember with whatever you choose to wear, be confident and rock your style.

What I Wore

Whew! It’s been quite a while since my last blog post!

Writing papers and studying for midterms took up a lot of my time over the past two weeks! Between going to class, studying, doing homework, and working, there just wasn’t enough time in the day to blog, never mind putting together outfits that were “photo-worthy.”

With that being said, last week was also my birthday! I was spoiled all weekend with parties, dinners, cards, gifts, and love! How lucky am I?

Most of those gifts happened to be clothes, giving me plenty of new inspiration for my outfits and the blog!

Now that my hectic schedule has calmed down a bit, I should be back to blogging regularly!

One of my favorite gifts was this adorable, sweater-knit cardigan! It is one of the softest sweaters I have and keeps me warm and cozy on colder, autumn days. The colors are neutral enough to pair with a number of different things and the extra-long length makes it perfect to throw on with jeans or over a dress, transforming it from summer to fall!

This time, I paired the sweater with my favorite American Eagle jeggings and knee-high brown, leather boots for a simple, casual fall look.

2013-10-17 07.08.14

Don’t be surprised if you see this sweater again- I love it THAT MUCH! I will be sure to style it in different ways for the rest of the fall season and the upcoming winter months.

(Oh and did I mention, this gift came with MATCHING socks!)
